Description
The module has the highest efficiency thanks to the protection module with MOSF-54-EXT. It is designed for surge protection of LAN devices installed outdoors, on metal structures or poles and in industrial environments, where in addition to typical surges there are also large potential differences between local grounding points.
LSA (Krone) connectors used on the unprotected side provide dual functionality as a patch panel and surge protection. In addition, LSA connectors have higher surge resistance than RJ-45 jacks, which is important in the case of high surge voltages.
The MOSFET fuses used disconnect the protected side circuits from the unprotected side in a very short time, causing the maximum amount of overvoltage to be discharged to ground, so that the voltage received by conventional protected devices is several times lower than that of conventional protected solutions. In addition, all equalization pulses that occur between connected LAN devices during discharge and when generators, UPS or heavy industrial equipment are switched on are eliminated.
Like the PRO series, they have increased surge resistance for each wire. Direct discharge of large loads without intermediate elements (transformer loops or diode connections) and solutions that reduce their cost, provides total protection at the level of 14kA for the entire FTP cable.
Compared to previous series, significantly better transmission and strength parameters for long-term power dissipation. Printed circuits with impedance control and better quality RJ-45 sockets ensure less crosstalk and attenuation of transmission lines, and new solutions and components ensure proper PoE support and protection up to 60 W (HiPoE).
Based on the PTU-54-EXT/PoE modules, you can create 10 Mbit or 100 Mbit LAN surge protection systems used to protect, among other things, computers, ground-based devices, PCC TV switches >Additional equipment includes circuits that protect devices powered by passive or active PoE lines, which may be damaged by induced surge currents during lightning discharges, as well as by damage to the PoE power supply. The PTU-54 series modules operate with PoE power supply in many IEEE standards, including: 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt – Type 3 (HiPoE, UPOE). MOSFET technology is not used in PoE schemes, if it is required, the PTU-64 system should be used – designed for Gigabit Ethernet networks.
The protection module is compatible with 10Base-T and 100Base-TX Ethernet networks and can be used with UTP or FTP, categories 5, 5e and 6, therefore ensuring full cable connection shielding. Due to the exclusive use of PoE power supply, pairs 4.5 and 7.8 are grouped - the module cannot be an element participating in the measurement of cable parameters of categories 5e, 6 or higher.
The module is designed for installation in special 19″ Rack panels, model PTU/PTF-5-RACK), we create systems with different panels, using one panel, up to 4 different purposes and protection levels.
The PTU-54 module is grounded using the mounting screws on the rack body, so expanding or replacing any module is very simple and does not require additional steps. The entire device is connected to ground using the included cable connected to a common ground point.
Since the beginning of 2021, an additional parameter has been introduced for PTU-4E and P-4 E version. MOSFET fuse protection which is included in the user manual.
