The main potential differences result in the effective possibility of interference. They arise in situations where cameras are mounted on metal structures (poles, metal boots) and also when individual cameras are powered from random sources. An additional filter prevents interference from the power supply and sudden potential jumps.
The separator also protects cameras and recorders against damage caused by sudden jumps in potential differences resulting from lightning discharges and sudden power outages. The symptoms of damage in such cases are completely different than in the case of power surges or lightning discharges, but they also result in the loss of the warranty of the installed cameras or recorders.
